Product Description
If you look at ancient soils such as those in the Amazon Rainforest in Peru that grew crops for millions of people thousands of years ago, they all had one thing in common; high carbon content.
These cultures knew that carbon = soil health = healthy crops = healthy people who can thrive.
The crazy thing is that these soils continue to get better year after year, and can sustain crops for thousands of years!
Benefits
Benefits
Stops nutrients from “disappearing” every time you water
For pots, planters, and raised beds, biochar is nutrient storage:
- When you water, nutrients usually wash out the bottom of the pot or leach through garden soil.
- Biochar grabs onto those nutrients and holds them in the root zone instead of letting them escape.
Makes potting mix more “forgiving” (less drama from over/under watering)
Houseplants die from watering issues more than anything else.
Biochar helps by:
- Holding extra moisture without becoming soggy → plants have a backup water supply.
- Creating air pockets in the soil → more oxygen to roots, less compaction.
- In pots that tend to stay wet, it can help reduce the risk of root rot.
Airbnb for good microbes (especially if you’re using probiotics/compost)
Biochar is loaded with pores = microbial apartment building:
- Beneficial microbes move in and stick around instead of getting flushed out.
- More microbial life = better nutrient cycling, stronger roots, more resilient plants.
- If you’re using things like compost, worm castings, or “plant probiotics,” biochar helps those microbes set up a long-term home.
For houseplants, this means your soil becomes more alive and self-regulating instead of just being “dirt in a pot.”
How To Use
How To Use
Add to soil mixes at a rate of 2-5% per volume. Do not exceed 5% because at high levels carbon can actually rob nitrogen from plants.

Carbon is Life 🌱
Every single living creature and thing on this planet is carbon based.
So it makes sense that when soil has ideal carbon content it would thrive with life as well.
Because soil IS a living organism. This concept is something that we need to become more aware of if we want to become self-sufficient growers.
Ancient cultures knew this and the soils they created are still thriving today.
Terra Preta 🖤
They discovered that Amazonian soils are extremely INfertile. Meaning that you cannot grow crops in them, and definitely wouldn't be able to sustain a population with food.
However, ancient peoples of Peru and South America understood how to build healthy soils and incorporated carbon into them to hold nutrients, help microbes thrive, and hold onto water.
As you can see on the left hand side, this is what healthy soil looks like. This is what you can begin to recreate with our Biochar.
